In late August 2019, The Daily Caller ran the rather shocking headline announcing: “Seventh Illegal Alien Arrested On Sexual Abuse Charges.”
That piece detailed the particularly brutal rape of a 15-year-old girl by a previously deported Honduran national, Emilio Carrasco-Hernandez, 37. He had been deported in April 2017, but obviously had no trouble finding his way back to Montgomery County, Maryland, yet another U.S. locality that, over the last several years, has laid out the welcome mat for illegal aliens.
The article reported:
The report marks the latest in a string of sexual abuse arrests of illegal aliens in Montgomery County, which just recently signed a sweeping anti-ICE (U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement) executive order. Six other illegal aliens have been arrested in the county since July 25 on sex crime-related charges.1
A few days later, it was announced that the disturbing count had risen again. Montgomery County Police arrested Oluwakayode Adewole Adebusuyi, after he reportedly raped a woman inside his car in Silver Spring.
In a press release, the Montgomery County Police Department reported the following:
Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police — Special Victims Investigations Division (SVID) have charged Oluwakayode Adewole Adebusuyi, age 26, of the 3300 block of Willow Crescent Drive in Fairfax, Virginia, with the second-degree rape, assault, and false imprisonment of a 28-year-old female that occurred in Silver Spring.
On August 24 at approximately 11:46 p.m., 2nd District officers responded to the 6900 block of Clarendon Road in Bethesda for the report of a female crying in the middle of the road. The female stated to arriving officers that she had been raped.
The investigation by detectives determined that earlier in the evening the victim had been at a bar in Silver Spring when she began to feel nauseous. The victim told detectives that the suspect, who was also in the bar and who has a mutual friend with the victim, had offered to let her sleep in his Toyota sedan which was parked outside. The victim accepted the suspect’s offer and she fell asleep in his car. After falling asleep in the Toyota, the victim was eventually awoken when the suspect entered the car and began raping her.
After the rape, the suspect drove his car out of the area with the victim still inside. The victim repeatedly asked the suspect to let her out of his car, but the suspect refused. The victim eventually exited the Toyota while the car was on Clarendon Road. Once outside of the suspect’s car, the victim screamed for help and the suspect fled the area in his vehicle. Nearby residents who had heard the victim’s call for help contacted police.
During the investigation, detectives identified Adebusuyi as the suspect. On August 27, detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Adebusuyi charging him with rape, assault, and false imprisonment.2
Of course, Montgomery County has a “sanctuary policy” in place for illegal aliens, and local law enforcement is basically forbidden to cooperate with federal immigration authorities. What the Montgomery County Police left out of their press release was the fact that Adebusuyi is in the country illegally from Nigeria.
On Monday, ABC 7 News’ Kevin Lewis revealed the fact that a year earlier, Adebusuyi had been taken into custody in Montgomery County on similar charges (2nd-degree assault, 4th-degree sex offense, and false imprisonment). However, prosecutors failed to bring the case to court, and all charges were dropped against the Nigerian national.3
Despite the detainer, if Adebusuyi makes his $250,000 bail, Montgomery County officials would not hold him for ICE, but would instead, give them “a courtesy call,” informing them of his release.
Adebusuyi was also a driver for multiple rideshare services, such as Uber and Lyft; thus police fear he may have many more victims throughout the county.
Within a few days of the aforementioned attack, it was announced that Nelson Reyes-Medrano, a 46-year-old father of ten, broke into the bedroom of a 16-year-old girl while she slept, and proceeded to rape her at knifepoint. The illegal alien from El Salvador was charged with first-degree rape, sex abuse of a minor, and first-degree assault.
During his first court appearance, in what can only be described as the absolute lack of fear criminal aliens have for the law in Montgomery County, the child rapist made what would otherwise be considered an unbelievable request.
WJLA reported:
Speaking through a court-provided translator, Reyes-Medrano vowed to play by the rules should he be released on bond.
“I would suggest that if you could please grant me a small bond, I will obey any orders that you set for me,” the accused rapist remarked. “I will be willing to appear at court dates and I will be willing to obey.”4
Then, on September 11, Josue Gomez-Gonzalez , an illegal alien from El Salvador, kidnapped and raped a woman in Montgomery County.
FOX 5, the Washington, D.C. Fox affiliate, reported:
Gomez-Gonzalez sexually assaulted the woman in the back seat of his car.
Gomez-Gonzalez then took the woman back to his home and sexually assaulted her on his bed, charging documents say.
Gomez-Gonzalez has been charged with two counts of second-degree rape. If convicted, he faces up to 50 years behind bars.5
While nine reported rapes over the course of two months in one county, all committed by illegal aliens, may seem quite disturbing to most, it’s really just business as usual in the “sanctuary” of Montgomery County.
What follows is a brief look at such crimes in what is not only a haven for criminal aliens, but for the hyper-violent Latino gang known as MS-13, as well.
In
March 2017,
Jose O. Montano,
17, and
Henry E. Sanchez,
18, were both charged with first-degree rape, after they reportedly forced a
14-year-old girl into a bathroom stall and took turns sexually assaulting her,
at Rockville High School in Montgomery County, Maryland.6
Both suspects are in
the country illegally. Montano is from El Salvador, while Sanchez is
Guatemalan.
In July 2009, six members of the Latin Kings stabbed to death Edwin Umana, 21.
In November 2008, Tai Lam, 14, was shot to death on a crowded bus by 20-year-old MS-13 member, Hector Mauricio Hernandez. This murder could have been avoided if Hernandez had been reported to federal authorities a month earlier, when the illegal alien was released by Montgomery County officials after being caught carrying a concealed weapon.7
In October 2008, police arrested Honduran national Jose Juan Garcia-Perlera, 33, for the murder of Mary Francis Havenstein, 63, after being linked to the crime with DNA evidence. He was also charged with several counts of robbery in a string of home invasions which targeted elderly homeowners. He always tied up his victims, one of whom was 92 years old. At the time of his arrest, Garcia-Perlera was living in Hyattsville, Maryland, and working for an electrical contractor. He had been in the country illegally for six years.8
In September 2008, while at a local mall, a Gaithersburg teen was stabbed nearly 50 times by gang members Ricardo Mejia, 16, Oswaldo Michael Lainez, 16, Omar Diaz, 16, and Edgar Garcia, 15. Though he was stabbed in the heart, the teen survived the attack. All of the assailants were charged as adults with attempted first-degree murder, first-degree assault, reckless endangerment, and two conspiracy charges.
In April 2009, Montgomery County Police Chief J. Thomas Manger announced that criminal activity committed by illegal alien gangs MS-13 and the Latin Kings had increased significantly and accounted for the higher numbers of serious crimes such as rape, robbery, and murder. Also, in 2009, the Maryland State’s Attorney’s Office reported that there were 35 active gangs in Montgomery County with a total of about 1,057 members.
Chief of the FBI’s MS-13 National Gang Task Force, Aaron Escorza, recently said that gangs “know what law enforcement is doing. Word of mouth spreads quickly.” Latin American gangs are now spreading the word that Maryland is part of the “Wild Wild East.”
“They don’t recognize borders. They commit crimes in El Salvador, flee El Salvador to come to the U.S. and you have MS-ers who are committing crimes in the U.S. and fleeing down to El Salvador to evade arrest,” Escorza told the BBC News.9
In December 2008, the Center for Immigration Studies (CIS) released “Taking Back Our Streets: ICE and Local Law Enforcement Target Immigrant Gangs,” a comprehensive report on law enforcement’s handling of illegal alien gangs. Consider the case of Milton Calderon-Menendez (age 25, citizen of El Salvador), who was arrested in March 2008, by the Prince William County, Virginia gang unit. Following procedures put in place just weeks before, Prince William County police checked his immigration status and learned that Calderon was an illegal alien.
The policy also requires them to notify ICE, which promptly put a hold on Calderon so that he would be held pending immigration charges, and would not be released (under Virginia law, illegal aliens are presumed to be ineligible for bail). As it turned out, Calderon had been arrested nine months before in Montgomery County, Maryland, about 40 miles away, for punching a 15-year-old in the face.
Calderon had admitted to Montgomery police that he was a member of MS-13. However, that department’s policy is to not inquire about immigration status. Montgomery County released Calderon on $2,500 bail and told him to return a month later for trial. He did not. About three days after his scheduled trial, Calderon and a friend assaulted the friend’s roommate — the friend beat his roommate in the head with a baseball bat while Calderon stabbed him in the chest. It was after this attack that Calderon was arrested in the neighboring state of Virginia.10
Back in April 2011, Montgomery County Council-member Nancy Navarro, along with other council members, introduced and passed a resolution opposing the implementation of the Secure Communities program. The federal program mandated localities to submit the fingerprints of everyone arrested and identified illegal aliens for deportation.11
Montgomery County, Maryland, which is reportedly home to a third of the state’s Latino population, has yet to participate in Secure Communities.
“It sends a message to the community that everybody can be a target and therefore disproportionately affects the ability to collaborate with law enforcement,” said Navarro. “I don’t think it’s what we want to do in Montgomery County.”
In January 2017, a little more than a month before the gang rape took place in Rockville High School, Councilwoman Navarro was once again, fighting for the “rights” of criminal aliens. “We will not allow President Trump to turn back the clock on the progress we have made to build trust among people of all races, ethnicities, and religions. Our diversity is our strength. We will not let a culture of fear take hold in our community,” Navarro stated in a press release.12
After illegal aliens committed several high-profile murders in Montgomery County, officials were forced to change their policy in reporting criminal aliens to ICE. However, as Judicial Watch has pointed out, Montgomery County police only report illegal aliens to the feds when they have been arrested for a very serious crime such as rape or murder.13
Illegal aliens arrested for burglary, simple assault, and most weapons violations are still not reported to ICE for deportation. Just as with any offender, bail is set for them and they are released back onto the streets to either commit more crimes in the county or to flee elsewhere.
Furthermore, the political leadership of Montgomery County has seen fit to go as far as banning ICE from portions of the county jail. This move has forced ICE agents to stake out the county courthouse and even exits at the jail, just as they now must do in New York City, under “open borders” Mayor Bill DeBlasio.
All of the aforementioned accounts of human misery, an obvious abandonment of the oath of office all county officials take to serve the citizens, begs the question: Just what would it take for those same Montgomery County citizens to wake up and throw these accessories to rape and murder out of office?
